Concerning
Used Surfboards:
We
usually have a fairly extensive selection in the models and shapes surfers
want to dump i.e. short, thin, narrow, and non-name recognizable. Sometimes
we get a diamond in the rough - different strokes for different folks
or good board - wrong surfer. On the whole the more beat up the board
- the more coveted.
As
far as beginner boards, fun boards, longboards - they last literally
hours during the months of May - September. The optimum time to score
the best selection in used boards would be when the bulk of the new
boards arrive between April and early June.
Prices
on used boards vary from $50.00 to $295.00. Be sure to ask for some
expert advice. Surfing is fun IF you have the right equipment for you.
A bargain is not a bargain if you are not having fun or you are getting
discouraged.
The
basic rule of surfing is: the longer the board the easier the paddle,
the wider the board the more stable it is. The hardest part of surfing
is paddling. The more waves you catch and the more times you stand up
the faster you learn. But you wouldn't believe how many times that question
comes up. Two great videos we highly recommend are: John Carper's "Shaping
Video" and Richard Schmidt's "Learn to Surf". They are
both a wealth of knowledge and a great asset to anyone's library, novice
or accomplished.
